While we’re still using ifMUD as a ceremony venue for now, we know that it\u00a0can be\u00a0a less-than-transparent tool for new users. Joey Jones has kindly written up a condensed version of the FAQ that only deals with the stuff you’ll need for the actual ceremony.<\/p>\n

Getting on the MUD<\/b><\/h3>\n

1. Go to\u00a0http:\/\/ifmud.port4000.com:4001\/apply<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Pick a username and submit a valid email address. A password will be sent to your email address.<\/p>\n

3. Go to\u00a0http:\/\/ifmud.port4000.com:4002\/bui<\/a><\/p>\n

4. Type connect username password to login, where “username” is your username, and “password” is your password. Like:<\/p>\n

Connect jojo password1<\/p>\n

Getting to the Ceremony<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

1. Type U
\n2. Type S
\n3. Type E<\/p>\n

This will travel from the Dorm Room to the Long Hall, and from there to the Massive Auditorium via the Cavernous Cave.<\/p>\n

If you get lost, type XYZZY to teleport to the Long Hall. From there, type S, then E.<\/p>\n

Talking at the Ceremony<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

You can applaud, and make speeches when it’s your time just by typing as in a normal chat room.<\/p>\n

1. Type @joinc peanut-gallery<\/p>\n

This will allow you to chat with other audience members without disturbing the main announcements.<\/p>\n

2. Type ; before saying something to speak in the peanut-gallery. Like:<\/p>\n

;My bet’s on Stiffy Makane to win Best Writing!<\/p>\n

[Peanut-Gallery] jojo says, “My bet’s on Stiffy Makane to win Best Writing!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Useful Tricks<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

To emote, use a colon. Like:<\/p>\n

:claps politely.<\/p>\n

jojo claps politely.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can even emote on a channel, like:<\/p>\n

;:nods.<\/p>\n

[peanut-gallery] jojo nods.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To speak to someone specific, you can use ..name to single them out. Like:<\/p>\n

;..maga Don’t keep us waiting!<\/p>\n
